MIDI
MIDI is a computing/audio standard that represents music in digital format. MIDI (almost like a protocol) allows electronic devices to operate together to produce a synchronised sound. A MIDI signal contains no actual sound but indicates for example, which key, how hard and how long a specific key is pressed on the keyboard, or shows the effect of altering the sound controls such as vibrato, modulation or portemento on the sound.Click Here to Return to the main Music Glossary page
