Slumdog Millionaire Movie Review
The basic plot of Slumdog Millionaire Movie Review is that a Mumbai (Bombay) teenager, now working as a ChaiWalla (or tea boy) in a call centre, who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’. Because he grew up on a slum he is knows as a SlumDog. Because he does so well (getting to within a question or two of the top prize) he is arrested and suspected of cheating. While being interrogated the explains that the events from his life history outline why the questions can be answered so easily.
OK ! I thought this would be an interesting, perhaps a feel good film. WRONG !
Prepare yourself before you watch this film. Don’t get me wrong it is an excellent film, but some of the scenes are gruesome, ranging from kids covered in excrement (which is a funny scene but sickening at the same time) … to kids getting their eyes removed with acid and spoons (yes you read correctly) …. this is all part of a very good plot but is very tough to watch in parts.
It is a good film and I can see why it is winning awards all around the world. I don’t think it is strong enough to win an Oscar, my tip is Milk for Best Picture but Frost/Nixon may win as the outsider. I think Slumdog might win Best Cinematography and also Best Song for ‘Jai Ho’.
Some of the scenes of Slumdog Millionaire Movie Review were very tough, something the trailer does not prepare you for, but a well made film from Pathe, Film4 and Celador Films.
