We stayed in Florida for Christmas this year and we decided to stay in the beautiful city of Fort Meyers for the Christmas Day period. We had stayed at the Luminary Hotel which is located in Downtown Fort Myers back in 2023 – we decided that it was the most luxurious place you could dream of spending Christmas. This stunning hotel located on the banks of the river is a part of the esteemed Autograph Collection® by Marriott International, Inc., and is beautifully situated with great views.

This hotel rises a modest 12 stories above the city of Fort Meyers, and the Luminary, a really boutique hotel boasts a total of 243 rooms and suites plus it offers a variety of amenities. These amenities include the signature Silver King Ocean Brasserie located on the first floor as well as a small bar in the Beacon Social Drinkery, next door there is the fab Ella Mae’s Diner which serves great southern comfort food, and across the road, there is the Oxbow Bar & Grill located on the pier. You can also enjoy Dean Street Coffee Roaster if you fancy a coffee there is a well-equipped fitness center with both indoor and outdoor options, plus a pool which we enjoyed in the 27C temperatures on 26th December – which we revelled in for sure.

The rooms are very stylishly designed with vibrant wardrobe chests, integrated safety deposit boxes, cool chic lighting, and a cozy lounge-styled chair paired with a desk that has tea and coffee facilities. We had fantastic views of downtown, the bridges, and the river as our room was on the corner of the hotel which we really appreciated.

The bathroom was excellent and had more than enough room for us. The wardrobe was good with perfect space for the 4-day stay for us. As regards the aforementioned tea and coffee facilities, UK and Irish customers will want ‘Black Tea’ such as English Breakfast Tea, which we had on day 1. We used this but the housekeeping staff replaced it with Green Tea, but when we requested a black tea, we just got Earl Grey – so I think that was just a cultural difference. We ate in the Silver King on Christmas Eve and Ella Maes on Christmas Day – both were really good. The only negative I would say about the Silver King is that we both ordered the same fish dish but my portion of fish was far smaller than the other serving which I thought was strange – I was though delicious. Ella Maes was great on Christmas Day and the staff there are constantly excellent.

I really enjoyed the stay at the Luminary Hotel in Fort Meyers and hopefully we will return again soon.
