Album Intro :There is actually no intro on the Album but if you use the concert intro as a guide you will be able to get the starting note which is a G.
Performance Notes : The Cm Gm7/C and Eb Ab chords are played on the album (occasionally) up 1 octave – i.e. play the chord 1 time on the lower octave and it is then echoed on the higher octave. Have a listen to the album and you will see what I mean.

We are the Champions was Recorded in the summer of 1977 at Basing Street and Wessex Studios in London. The song was released on the album News of the World which was released as a single in October 1977 prior to the release of the actual album. It was an instant chart success peaking at Number 2 in the Charts in the UK and Number 3 here in Ireland.
This song is consistently played at large sporting events such as Champions League and Ice Hockey games. It’s hard to imagine sport without this blaring in the background as a team does a lap of honour.
Frequently in USA, FM radio stations will play We Will Rock You and then We are the Champions back to back, as they were released on the same single. I have actually heard more UK and European stations now doing the exact same thing. It’s almost like they are companion songs.
It remains one of my favourites to play on piano.
