Queen Greatest Hits Album Review
Queens first ‘Greatest Hits’ is one of the most popular compilations ever. As testament the following statistic will blow you away – The album reached #1 and stayed in the charts for 529 weeks in the UK. Since then, the album has come in and out of the charts, however, it’s more likely that it is purchased as part of the GH I + II or the collection of all 3 Greatest Hits.
The classics like ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, ‘We are the Champions’ and ‘Killer Queen’, are all piano-based brilliance from Freddie – is then mixed with Brians guitar riffs of ‘Now I’m Here’ and ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’. They could easily have added a few others like ‘Tie Your Mother Down’ or ‘Sail Away Sweet Sister’ and they wouldn’t have looked out of place… but some of these tracks did end up on foreign Greatest Hits albums.
The album has all the best hits from the past albums, and all the tracks on the album were Top 10 Hits. There are many different track listings available for GHI as it was released in many different countries. But the UK version (shown here) has nothing to disappoint and is definitely the Cream of Queens music.
Did you know …. the track “Another One Bites The Dust” was only released as a single , after Michael Jackson suggested it would make an excellent single.
Also, in 2021 I updated this post because Queen Greatest Hits had been in the UK charts again and at this stage the album has been in the charts for over 950 weeks.
