I have taken a look at the Queen Collector edition on ISSUU (the VibrationsMusic link did not work at the time of my testing). I can tell you the visuals are amazing but the document, as you would expect is in French, as this is the French version of Queen Collector. I can read French but it took me a while. It is a very interesting read and a good one for anyone who can lire Francais. Enjoy !

Queen Unseen by Peter Hince goes on-sale

Queen Unseen - My life with the Great Rock Band of the 20th Century - by Peter Ratty HinceThe new Queen book, Queen Unseen by Queen Roadie, Peter Hince, has hit the shops.
I will have a review of the book on this site in the next few weeks. I have provided Amazon links and some details from the author below.

A Word From the Author – Peter Hince

Queen Unseen is a unique account of the many exciting years as a young man I spent on tour, in the recording studio, on video shoots and day to day life at home with one of the world’s biggest and best ever rock bands. It is an insightful, enlightening and mostly humorous account for anybody who has ever wondered what working for Queen, or indeed most rock bands of that era really entailed….. the highs and the lows. It is not a chronological history or definitive biography of the band, but a personal story of what it was like to spend your youth travelling the world and living the rock and roll lifestyle – to the full!

I make observations and comments about all the fantastic places we visited and played, and what it was like living, at times, a crazy and surreal existence.

The book covers all the areas that were relevant in Queen’s working life, during my time as Queen’s longest-serving roadie and head of their crew. There is lots of new material and surprises for Queen fans and it is a book to interest anybody who likes stories of rock and roll life in the 1970s & 1980s.

Mine is a truly unique book on Queen – no journalist or author could have written it – they were not there. I was, and I remember it all like it was yesterday…..
Wonderful memories.

There will be photo sections in the book that contain colour and black & white images from my successful Queen The Unseen Archive show that was exhibited in London and Australia recently. There will be additional rare and unseen photos and other images items of interest.

I hope you will join me on an Access All Areas journey through a magical era when we were young; feeling we could take on the world and win. Invariably we did.

Here’s what Peter has to say about it…
“Queen Unseen is a unique account of the many exciting years as a young man I spent on tour, in the recording studio, on video shoots and day to day life at home with one of the world’s biggest and best ever rock bands.

It is not a chronological history or definitive biography of the band, but a personal story of what it was like to spend your youth travelling the world and living the rock and roll lifestyle – to the full!

There will be NO lurid details of the band’s private lives. There is plenty of sex and drugs and rock and roll – and of course everybody knows it happened….

I make observations and comments about all the fantastic places we visited and played, and what living what at times, was a crazy and surreal existence.

New Book – ‘Freddie & Me’ Book ; Queen Influenced Book

I have just received this new book, titled, Freddie & Me, by Mike Dawson. It is a cartoon based memory of how Queen’s music influenced peoples lives. Once I picked up this book I could not put it down, as there were so many parallels with my life. From the first time he heard Queen to the sadness of Freddie’s death.
I will be reviewing this book in full over the next few days … In summary, this is a Great Book which will leave you caught in a landslide of memories and will also Entertain You.

Full Review to Follow… I have read the book twice and it is excellent!!!

Author’s Review;

High Fidelity meets Wayne’s World in this utterly charming graphic memoir about a young man’s life-long obsession with the rock band Queen. All of us have had that one band with which we identify, the band that was always there for us during good times and bad. For Mike Dawson it’s always been Queen and Freddie Mercury. Not unlike “Bohemian Rhapsody,” Freddie & Me takes readers on a rock-opera-like journey–from Mike’s childhood in the UK, through high school in New Jersey, and into the nineties, when grunge ruled the day and Queen was terminally uncool. As Mike works to navigate the trials and tribulations that accompany the road to adulthood (with Queen behind him every step of the way), he must grapple with the fears we all find ourselves facing: committing to one person for the rest of our lives, pursuing our dream job, coming to terms with our familial responsibilities, and even facing our own mortality. With humor, sensitivity, and some wonderfully imagined appearances by Freddie Mercury, Brian May, George Michael, and Andrew Ridgeley (among others), Freddie & Me is a touching reminder of how our favorite music is the soundtrack for so many of our most important memories and moments. And how one note can bring them all flooding back.
