The Back to the Light re-issue is available to Pre-order Now: https://BrianMay.lnk.to/BackToTheLight

Brian may opsted on his Instagram feed a very non-cryptic teaser about the new album re-issue, saying “Anybody fancy a season of BM re-releases with lots of juicy extras? …. We’re working on a plan!”

It has been almost 30 years since Back to the Light was released. It remains one of my favourite albums and in my view it has sttod the test of time. It was a great success for Brian as it reached number 6 in the charts on it’s initial release. One of the songs from the album even made an appearance at the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert when Brian played Too Much Love will Kill You.

Back to the Light has some fantastic songs and some have even made their way into the Queen Set List, for example Last Horizon. Some fantastic performances from the late great Cozy Powell on percussion is also a feature of the album. Brian even won an Ivor Novello award for ‘Too Much Love Will Kill You’ winning the award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. If you were around in the early 90’s you probably even remember the Ford motor company using a version of  ‘Driven by You’ or their adverts.

It is a very poignant album as Brian wrote it between 1998 and 1992 during which time he lost his dad, Freddie and also separated from his first wife.

What’s new on this Reissue?

The reissue of the Back to the Light album will be available as a Collector’s Edition box set featuring an exclusive white-vinyl LP,  a 32-page book, a 12” art print, two CDs, a download card and an enamel badge set and presented in a beautiful lift-lid box. A 1,000 only limited-edition of the same box-set is available exclusively on Queen Online Store with a Brian May signed 12” art print.

Back to the Light will also be released on vinly, CD, as a Deluxe 2 x CD set, on retro Cassette and the long awaited digital and streaming formats. There is a bonus called Out of the Light available in the box set, and on the 2 CD and digital formats. A limited-edition 1 x LP Picture Disc will also be available exclusively on Queen Online Store.  … At the time of writing this some of these had sold out within the hour !

Brian has actually rewritten the album’s sleeve notes to include lovely a tribute to the late, great Cozy Powell. So lots of nice touches to show this is more than just a re-release.

Queen + Adam Lambert release Live Around the World Album

Queen Live around the World release set for October 2nd
So far Queen  + Adam Lambert for performed 218 live shows with a total worldwide audience of 3,659,232 people.
If you weren’t one of these people, or indeed if you were and you want to relive that time again then there is some good news with Queen + Adam Lambert releasing their first Live album on October 2nd 2020.

The album is entitled Queen + Adam Lambert ‘Live Around the World’ and is set for a worldwide release on October 2nd. The Live around the World release will be available on CD, CD+DVD, CD+Blu-ray & Vinyl formats

Queen + Adam Lambert - 'Live Around the World' Album - October 2nd

It doesn’t seem like 11 years since Brian and Roger appeared as guests on the finale of the eighth season of American Idol. It was on that show that Adam Lambert was a contestant and it was there that Brian and Roger got a sneak peak of what might be. Since then they have performed over 200 shows to over 3 and a half million people around the world including recent concerts in the southern hemisphere with audiences of over 60,000.

Unfortunately due to Covid-19 that number should be higher as 27 concerts had to be abandoned due to the ongoing virus pandemic. Had those concerts gone ahead the audience numbers would surely have topped the 4 million mark by now. Those shows have now been rescheduled for 2021 – all going well. This new live album release is a way of easing the pain, in some way, on those who would have seen the shows.

The recent live watch party on YouTube saw Queen’s 12.5m subscribers watch show highlights and there were over 500,000 views in the 48 hours the show was availabe to stream. The content and the popularity was a surprise to the band also, as they hadn’t see much of this footage due to being always on the road. Roger stated that he wasn’t aware how good the band sounded.

The new live album can be pre-ordered at https://qal.lnk.to/LiveAroundTheWorld

The new album set list

The set list on the new Queen album spans many concerts – unlike some live albums, such as Wembley ’86, this is from various sources. These include Rock in Rio, Lisbon, the Isle of Wight Festival, Summer Sonic, the Japanese tour, selected UK and North America tour dates, and all 22 minutes of the the Fire Fight Australia benefit show in Australia (which if you didn’t know was the same set list as Queen’s original history-making 1985 Live Aid set in full: namely Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions).

New version of Barcelona is released on 3rd Sep 2012

New version of Barcelona is released on 3rd Sep 2012

The new version of Barcelona with OrchestraFreddie Mercury and Monserrat Caballe - Barcelona

On the Same day as Freddie for a Day 2012, the Barcelona – Newly Orchestrated Special Edition from Island Records will be released. 3rd September 2012, Freddie for a Day (Day) sees the release of a special 25th Anniversary edition of Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé’s classic ‘Barcelona’ album. The New version of Barcelona does sound a bit different due to the fact that an actual orchestra is used rather than synths.

25 years after the original release of the lead single, Queen singer Freddie Mercury’s most self-defining and personal work, his ‘Barcelona’ album recorded in collaboration with Spanish operatic soprano Montserrat Caballé, is to have a special re-release in an entirely newly orchestrated re-working.

The new version of Barcelona is being called a special anniversary version of the album titled ‘Barcelona – The Special Edition’ is released September 3, coming 25 years after the original release (I’m feeling old now!!) and is released around what would have been Freddies 66th birthday (or as he would have told you, his 59th, as he would not have like to admit he was over 60!).

I have actually heard this New Version of Barcelona and it still has to grow on me. I somehow prefer the one I grew up listening to. If you have heard it please let us know in the comments below.

There is much more information on this album release at queenonline.com – for more information on Barcelona Special Orchestrated Edition plus videos and Track information click here

‘Barcelona – The Special Edition’ is finally the album it should have been. The world will undoubtedly rediscover and fall in love with it all over again. The only downside is that the visionary behind this masterpiece is sadly not around to hear it too.

All songs were written and composed by Freddie Mercury and Mike Moran except lyrics on ‘Ensueño’ by Montserrat Caballé and lyrics on ‘The Fallen Priest’ and ‘The Golden Boy’ by Tim Rice.

Five More Queen Re-Issues Out This Week

The re-issues of five more Queen albums , namely ‘News Of The World’, ‘Jazz’, ‘The Game’, ‘Flash Gordon’ and ‘Hot Space’ have been released worldwide. The newly re-issued albums come with a Bonus EP made up of rare Queen tracks, Queen re-mixes and live Queen material.

One of the highlights – the News of the World Re-issue

The News of the World re-issue is one of the highlights of the Queen re-issues. This NOTW re-issue includes the original album (of course), plus two further CDs of recently sourced cuts and outtakes plus a numebr of really nice rarities from the Queen archives. One of these CDs is an alternative re-imagined version of the whole News of the World album, this is called the Raw Sessions. You can also hear a new and different version of “All Dead, All Dead“ but this time featuring the vocal stylings of one Freddie Mercury on vocals.

The News of the World re-issue set also includes a pure analogue re-cut of the original vinyl LP. This was created from the unmastered analogue master mix tapes. You can also enjoy a wonderful 60-page book and new 1 hour documentary, “Queen: The American Dream”, filmed during Queen’s 1977 USA News of the World tour and has unprecedented and unseen footage. This is very exciting as News of the World is a wonderful album with great tracks from the start.

Further Queen content is also available on iTunes and Spotify where you can find three videos per album plus image galleries containing several unseen shots of Queen along with the album and single sleeves from around the world.

Check out iTunes, Spotify and Queen Online for more details of these releases and also the other Queen Albums.
