About Freddie Mercury
Farrokh Bulsara was born on Thursday, 5th of September 1946 on small African spice island of Zanzibar, to parents Bomi and Jer Bulsara. His early school years were spent away from the family as he attended a boarding school in Bombay. Freddie’s father Bomi, was a British diplomat, so they were often moving from one location to another. In 1954, aged only 8 years, Freddie started to attend British College School, St. Peter’s in Panchgan. At this time his schoolmates started to call him by the more English name of Freddie. The school was typically British and in sports Freddie was very strong in boxing and in table tennis, winning many trophies and medals. Freddie also loved art and music and showed great talent in both areas; playing the piano and performing in school shows and also joining the school choir. Freddie, with the encouragement of the headmaster of the school, did piano lessons and applied himself to them very well achieving Grade IV in both practical and theory. In 1958, five friends at St Peter’s School formed a rock’n’roll outfit called ‘The Hectics’ – the members were Freddie Bulsara, Bruce Murray, Derrick Branche, Victory Rana and Farang Irani (Freddie was the piano player in the band). They played at school parties, at annual events and school dances.
We miss you Freddie !
Freddie Mercury, the legend!!!!11 Forever be missed, never forgotten!!!! Thank you for for your art and bringing a little more light to this world, Faroukh Bulsara!!!!
Missed and loved forevemore…
I have many memories of Queen before I even knew who they were. When I was 8 somebody played Fat Bottomed Girls and Bohemian Rhapsody, I thought they were amazing songs. A few years later I saw Flash Gordon and the Queen soundtrack caught my imagination.
I later remember hearing Radio Ga Ga the week I got my first computer back in 1984, the music still evokes the feeling I had when I heard that music for the first time.
The day Freddie died I had been out that evening, came back and saw the news. The world had lost someone special, a flamboyant musical genius who’s legacy is being carried on by Brian and Roger with We Will Rock You, the Queen Movie and the 40th Anniversary celebrations.
Today, raise a glass, think of Freddie and put on some Queen.

Sadly i wasn’t around for the Queen years featuring Freddie, but i had my first encounter which wasnt really on purpose and i didnt know who they were, i remember watching Waynes World and seeing the scene where they were singing Bohemian Rhaspody in the car and absoluetly fell in love with Queen, i went and bought Greatest Hits I and II (that was the only thing my walmart had) and played them all night. Now here i am 4 years later the only 16 year old in my town who knows who Queen or Freddie Mercury is, and sadly he died November 24th, 1991. Rest in Peace Freddie, thanks for the 20 golden years that you had with Queen and most importantly thanks for all the music!

Only the best singer with the best band ever ¡
Freddie never die..We miss you Mr.Mercury…….
I started listening to Queen in 1978. I was not among the lucky ones who had a good stereo system or a proper music playing gadget, so when at my friend’s place I used to shut myself in the room where her brother -a DJ- had himself assembled the stereo unit and manufactured a couple of huge speakers. And I would let Queen II blare out with rage. And I made up my own imaging of the songs. Since then, it has never stopped. Years went pass and in 1991, in the veary early hours of nov 25 -my birthday- while breastfeeding my newlyborn, I heard the news … Such a loss …
Let´s not make this day a dark one. Let’s remember Freddie with a song, That would be his wish, I think.
Thanks for that last, very moving comment.
An edit I made of a Freddie pic, hope you can see it.
Thanks Madeline !
I run everyday to Queen music. A small tribute I guess but at least I get to think about Freddie each day even if it’s only a moment.
Thanks Claire for that lovely comment and to all who posted comments over the past 24 hours.
I still love you <3
Today at 7:12pm 24th November 1991 the world lost one of the most talented musicians of all time. Freddie’s hard work, even when he was as ill as he was, gave us some of the most inspiring, down to earth and heart warming songs of all time. Freddie also had the power to make his music mean so much to each individual and relate to anything. Like my page says Freddie’s work really does relate to every emotion and I think its safe to say that his spirit will never ever die. This day in 1991 a true talent was lost but his spirit will always live on through his songs. He helped spread awareness of his disease so that future sufferers have a much better chance of survival. His unbelievable strength gave us some amazing songs towards the end of his life and I think its safe to say we will not see many singers like him for a long long time. So here’s to Freddie, RIP The Great Pretender, Keep on Rocking
Freddie Mercury, Lover of Life-Singer of songs. (5th September 1946 to 24th November 1991) -Harry
He’s so beautiful and people get surprised when they find out what type of music I listen to and I’m only 13. They ask me why and I’m like, isn’t it obvious?
He will always be my favourite man in the whole world I don’t care when I remind myself that he’s dead, but I do mind when other people remind me!
Freddie’s beautiful and he’s the best man ever to live and I get really annoyed if someone says shit about him…
