I have a YouTube Channel that has content for fans of the band Queen called Shane’s Queen Site YouTube Channel to accompany my Queen Fan website of the same name. In the past while I have been trying to grow my YouTube channel and I recently found some great information about how to extend your reach on that video platform.  The Hero, Hub, and Help (or Hygiene) framework is a strategic approach to YouTube content designed to maximize reach, engagement, and long-term audience growth. It balances viral, consistent, and searchable content to create a well-rounded channel. In the past, I have been mainly focusing on the HOW component of the Hero Hub Help Framework, with myHow to Play Queen on Piano type videos. Having researched this new approach, I decided to put this post together should you wish to implement it yourself.

Here’s how to implement the Hero Hub Help Framework effectively:

1. Hero Content (Big, Attention-Grabbing Videos)

Hero content is designed for mass appeal, often tied to major events, trends, or campaigns. These videos aim to attract new audiences and generate buzz through high production value and compelling storytelling. So, for me I might choose recent releases by Queen or upcoming Queen tours or shows and do a video on this.

Other Examples: A fitness brand launching a “30-Day Transformation Challenge” with a professionally shot documentary featuring influencers or celebrities. This content is widely promoted across platforms to drive new viewers.

Hero Framework Implementation Tips:

– Plan around big moments, such as product launches, industry events, or viral trends.

– Invest in high production quality to make an impact.

– Use emotional storytelling or unique perspectives to make the video shareable.

– Promote aggressively via ads, collaborations, and social media.

2. Hub Content (Regular, Engaging Content for Subscribers)

Hub content is the consistent, episodic content that keeps your existing audience engaged. This type of content builds a loyal community by delivering value on a scheduled basis. So for me and my Shane’s Queen Site YouTube Channel, it might be a deep dive into the amazing song Bohemian Rhapsody perhaps.

Example: A travel vlogger releases a “Destination Deep Dives” series every Wednesday, exploring hidden gems in different cities.

Hub Framework Implementation Tips:

– Establish a content calendar to post regularly.

– Create series or formats that viewers can follow over time.

– Foster engagement through comments, Q&A, and community polls.

– Encourage audience participation (e.g., user-submitted challenges).

3. Help Content (How To, Searchable, Evergreen Content)

Help content answer common questions and solve problems, making it valuable for SEO and long-term discovery. These videos serve as a traffic driver through search. This is the style of content my YouTube channel was setup to provide but now I realise that concentrating on this topic alone may be narrowing my niche and my reach.

Example: A tech channel posts “How to Set Up a Home Office on a Budget,” or my own YouTube Channel “How to Play Queen Songs on Piano” ; All these are optimized for search queries.

– Research trending and evergreen questions in your niche.

– Optimize titles, descriptions, and tags for searchability.

– Keep videos concise and actionable to maximize watch time.

By implementing all three elements effectively, your YouTube channel can attract, retain, and continuously grow its audience.

Obviously, you need to be posting regularly, so for me in 2024 I only posted 5 videos and a number of YouTube Shorts but in 2025 I’m hoping to post every second week or even every week. Combining this with quality video and audio in the production and some decent Titles, Descriptions, and Thumbnails,  hopefully this should improve my YouTube Channel Performance. At the time of writing this, Feb 20th 2025, my 48-hour stats show that I’m getting between 200 and 300 views in this period.  I will update this post in the coming months as I implement this new How Hub hero Framework on my YouTube channel
